Unclaimed Funds

Most unclaimed funds arise when a trustee attempts to distribute dividends (assets) to a creditor(s) in a case and the money is returned to the court as being "unclaimed". Unclaimed funds are deposited by the court into the U.S. Treasury until the court approves release of the funds to the entitled creditor.

The following link will allow a search of the court's unclaimed funds database. It is not necessary to complete all fields when completing a search. US Bankruptcy Court Eastern District of Michigan Unclaimed Funds Locator

Creditors who believe they are entitled to an unclaimed fund must file with the court an application and proposed order, including proof of identity. View the Unclaimed Fund Forms.
