Traditionally, PACER has allowed any user with a personal computer the ability to dial-in to a district or bankruptcy court computer and retrieve official electronic case information and court dockets. Now, PACER is available only on the Internet in a web-based format. In addition, registered PACER users can now also access a national index for U.S. Courts, a link to this resource is located at the bottom of this page.
Note: Each court controls its own computer system and case information database; therefore, there will be some variations among jurisdictions as to the information offered. The information that is available through the MIEB/PACER systems includes docket entries as well as basic case information.
To utilize the web version of the system you will need: (1) a personal computer; (2) a modem; (3) Internet Access; and (4) a Web Browser. There is a charge of $0.10/page for information retrieved from this site.
Persons interested in utilizing these services must first register with the PACER Service Center at 1-800-676-6856 or on their WebSite at http://www.pacer.psc.uscourts.gov.
For questions regarding the service being provided or the billing process, you may call the PACER Billing Center at 1-800-676-6856 or direct questions via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
U.S. Party Case Index - National Index for Registered PACER Users
The U.S. Party/Case Index is a national index for U.S. district, bankruptcy, and appellate courts. A small subset of information from each case will be transferred to the U.S. Party/Case Index each night. The system serves as a locator index for PACER. You may conduct nationwide searches to determine whether or not a party is involved in federal litigation. For detailed information on cases found while searching the U.S. Party/Case Index, you will need to access the PACER system for the particular jurisdiction where the case is located.
